In the News

“I definitely feel that I have expanded my professional and personal horizons by attending this conference,” wrote Judith Cmero in her evaluation of ACRL’s 7th National Conference in Pittsburgh, March 29-April 1, 1995.

Cmero’s evaluation seems typical of the many positive comments coming into the ACRL office. ACRL’s 7th National Conference, attracting 2,721 attendees, was a success! A brief report appears in News from the Field and summaries of many of the conference programs will appear in the June issue of C&RL News.

ACRL members work hard to provide an interesting array of programs whether they are for the National Conference or for ALA’s Annual Conference. In this issue we have a special pullout section listing all of the ACRL-sponsored programs and meetings (as of press time) that will take place in Chicago at the Annual Conference, June 22–28, 1995.

The ACRL Publications Committee invites you to stop by and meet the ACRL editors at the ACRL Membership Booth during the Annual Conference. A schedule is given on page 333 at the conclusion of Richard Werking’s overview of the ACRL publications program.

This issue includes reports from three other conferences. Irene Hoffman tells us about the AAHE’s teaching, learning, and technology roundtables on page 326. Hoffman and Amy Sherman Smith share fundraising tips and information about a new listserv in their reports on pages 328–329- Elizabeth Smith reports on the changes happening in Eastern European libraries gleaned from an international seminar on library management (page 324).

Our Internet resources series resumes this month with a look at the earth sciences thanks to Flora Shrode Cobb and Edward F. Lener (page 319).

Because many of us spend hours at our keyboards as a result of the Internet and other automated work, this issue includes an article on ergonomic safety written by Teri Switzer (page 314).
