Cover Page
This month’s cover features a Yao scroll from the Yao Ceremonial Artifacts Collection at the Ohio University Libraries. As a research and study collection, the university’s Frederick and Kazuko Harris Fine Arts Library maintains an impressive collection of Yao ceremonial objects. Historically, the Yao were nomadic people who inhabited southern China and migrated into Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Offering approximately 2,000 pieces from the north of Viet Nam, primarily the Ha Bac Province, these materials support scholarly research needs in a variety of areas. Unique objects featured in the collection include a generous sampling of head dress-type objects, small and large hand scrolls, hanging scrolls, some manuscripts, and textiles.

More information about the collection is available online at www.library.ohiou.edu/finearts/nemc_main.html.
