This month’s cover features student work by Robert Faust from the University of Oklahoma (OU) Libraries’ American School of Architecture Archive. During the 1950s OU’s architecture program become a site where individual creativity and resourcefulness rather than rote learning became pedagogical practice. Dubbed the “American School,” in contrast with programs that embraced European modernist agendas, students at OU were asked to respond to conceptual prompts like “opacity,” “rhythm,” and, in this image, “modulation.”

More information on the archive is available in this month’s News from the Field department or at https://archives.libraries.ou.edu/repositories/2/classifications/1.
