This month’s cover features a photograph by Leslie Pinson of a student studying in the Marshall University (MU) Library circa 1970.
The image is part of MU’s Parthenon Photo Morgue, 1959-1982 collection. The collection is composed of photographs taken by students for use by The Parthenon, an award-winning student publication that was first printed in 1898. The Parthenon Photo Morgue documents the student experience at the university and in Huntington, West Virginia.
The collection is part of the MU Special Collections Department, which has been focused on collecting materials related to regional and Appalachian history since its founding in 1971. More information is available at www.marshall.edu/special-collections/.
