This cover photograph from a recent issue of Appalachian Heritage (AH) reflects the magazine's focus on southern Appalachian life and culture. AH is published by the Special Collections Department of Hutchins Library, Berea College, Kentucky, as part of its goal to promote the study of the southern Appalachian region. Special Collections and Archives at Berea include extensive materials on the his­tory and culture of the area defined primarily as West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and Ten­nessee, and western Virginia and North Caro­lina.
