Published about 1926 by the Northern Pacific Railway Company with the title National Forest Dude Ranch Vacations, this directory constitutes a very early guide to Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming dude ranches. It is in the collections of the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum research center in Los Angeles. Open to the research community in May, the center collects materials that broadly document the history of the American West, especially those that add to an understanding of the role that myth and legend have played in creating popular images of the region. The center is a member of the Research Libraries Group and catalogs all of its holdings, book and nonbook, into RLIN.
