Published about 1926 by the Northern Pacific Railway Company with the title National Forest Dude Ranch Vacations, this directory constitutes a very early guide to Idaho, Montana, and Wyo­ming dude ranches. It is in the collections of the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum research center in Los Angeles. Open to the research com­munity in May, the center collects materials that broadly document the history of the American West, especially those that add to an understand­ing of the role that myth and legend have played in creating popular images of the region. The center is a member of the Research Libraries Group and catalogs all of its holdings, book and nonbook, into RLIN.
