Cover Page

This month’s cover features an image of a young student perched on the front porch of Athens State University’s Founder’s Hall in Athens, Alabama, circa 1928. Mary Norman Moore-McCoy was university president at the time and one of four women ever to serve in that role. Moore-McCoy was instrumental in modernization and expansion, including the completion of Brown and McCandless Halls, both on the National Register of Historic Places. Athens State University is the oldest continuously operating institution of higher education in Alabama and will be celebrating its bicentennial in 2022.

The image is part of the Athens State University Archives Yearbook Collection. More information on the Athens State University Archives is available at www.athens.edu/library/archives/.
