Cover Page

This month’s cover features Libros y Libertad, art commissioned in 2008 for the Regis University Dayton Memorial Library in Denver, Colorado. Created by Anthony D. Ortega, associate professor, Fine and Performing Arts, Libros y Libertad is about place, with the Dayton Memorial Library at the center and two students reading, one male, one female, representing diversity and the student population. Another group of students is walking to class.

In addition to this piece at Dayton Memorial Library, which is located behind the Research Help desk, Ortega’s works have graced public buildings, such as the Denver Public Library. Many community murals have been created with assistance from student groups at local schools. The Smithsonian Institution currently houses his archives.
