Ann-Christe Galloway

Kim Sims has been appointed university archivist at The College of William and Mary’s Swem Library. Sims previously served as technical services archivist for the Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library, managing institutional records and select manuscript collections, developing guidelines for the processing of electronic records, and curating exhibits. Sims also served as the archives assistant at Duke University. Prior to joining the library, she was the fellowship training program coordinator/assistant to the chief of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition at Duke University Medical Center. As university archivist, Sims will be responsible for documenting the history of the university, assisting in the development of strategies to manage and preserve digital materials, and creating policies for management of electronic theses and dissertations.

William H. Walters has been appointed executive director of the Mary Alice and Tom O’Malley Library at Manhattan College. He previously held faculty and staff positions at Cornell University, St. Lawrence University, Millersville University, the Providence VA Medical Center, and Menlo College, where he served as dean of library services and professor of library and information science. Walters’s professional interests include academic librarianship, scholarly publishing, and library collection development. His research has appeared in nearly 30 journals, including those of the Royal Geographical Society, the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the International Cartographic Association, the Gerontological Society of America, the Regional Science Association International, and the Association for Information Science and Technology. He serves on the editorial board of portal: Libraries and the Academy and has been a consultant to the Oberlin Group, the Oklahoma Disability Study, the Sociometrics Corporation, and the City University of New York.

Amy Bailey has accepted the head of Western European cataloging position with the Indiana University Bloomington Libraries.

Jewel Davis has joined the faculty at Appalachian State University Libraries as education librarian.

Chris Diaz is now collections manager at National Louis University.

Rachel Fleming has joined the faculty at Appalachian State University Libraries as lead acquisitions librarian.

Bryan Giemza has been named director of the Southern Historical Collection in the Wilson Special Collections Library at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Scott Goldstein has joined the faculty at Appalachian State University Libraries as web librarian.

Lauren Goode has been appointed science librarian at William and Mary’s Swem Library.

Cynthia Hughes has been named cataloging/metadata librarian at the University of Wyoming Libraries.

Clement Chu Sing Lau is now associate librarian for technical and collection services division at the Hong Kong Baptist University Library in Hong Kong SAR, China.

Sarah Leeman is now online learning and web resources librarian at National Louis University

Jie Li is now serials and acquisitions librarian at Morgan State University’s Richardson Library.

Alex McAllister has joined the faculty at Appalachian State University Libraries as humanities librarian for collection management.

Kelly McCallister is now distance education librarian at Appalachian State University Libraries.

Kelly McElroy has joined Oregon State University as student engagement and community outreach librarian.

Rob Morrison has been appointed interim dean, Library and Learning Support at National Louis University.

Martha Gonzalez Palacios has been appointed art and architecture librarian at the University of Oregon’s Architecture and Allied Arts Library.

Dea Rice has joined the faculty at Appalachian State University Libraries as catalog librarian.

Bryan Ricupero has joined the University of Wyoming Libraries as cataloging/metadata librarian.

Dorothy Terry has been named instruction and digital initiatives librarian at Morgan State University’s Richardson Library.

Felecia Tyler is now information literacy librarian at Morgan State University’s Richardson Library.

John Wiswell has joined the faculty at Appalachian State University Libraries as health sciences librarian.


Catherine L. Wilkinson, professor, has retired from the University Libraries at Appalachian State University. Wilkinson had been at Appalachian State since 1982, when she joined the library faculty as head catalog librarian. Most recently, she served as network librarian for the Western North Carolina Library Network, leading the collaborative efforts of three libraries and institutions. Her prior positions include coordinator for access services, coordinator for information organization, and government documents librarian.


Lisa Williams, a faculty member at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington’s (UNCW) William Madison Randall Library, has died. Williams began her tenure at UNCW as an instructional services /reference librarian in 2001. Most recently, she assumed the role of associate director, library research and service quality, and was a member of the library’s senior leadership team. Williams was an active member in the North Carolina Library Association as well as ALA. Some of her notable contributions to Randall Library include information literacy instruction, research services coordination, assisting with expansion of the Learning Commons, reference collection management and development, and advocating for disability services. She also served as an academic advisor.

Patricia A. Young, director of library systems at the City University of New York until her retirement in 2007, has died. Young began her career at the Charles Warren Center for American History at Harvard, followed by a position at Wilmington Institute (Public) Library in Delaware, after which she accepted the position of assistant librarian for technical at the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus. She began working at the Brooklyn College Library in 1980, first as a cataloger and then as access services librarian, before moving to CUNY’s Central Office of Library Services in 1987.
