Appointments

David Coleman has been appointed director of the Wittliff Collections at the Alkek Library, Texas State University (TSU)-San Marcos. Coleman joins TSU from the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas-Austin, where he served as the chief curator for photography. He has worked at the Ransom Center since 1996. During his tenure at the Ransom Center, Coleman supervised the photography department while developing major exhibitions from the collections. He was responsible for collection development, programming, and collection management, and he served as the series editor for the Ransom Center’s photography book series with the University of Texas Press.

Charles Fisher has been appointed head of access services at the University of Akron University Libraries.

Ann Flower has been appointed assistant director at the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

Kasia Leousis has joined Auburn University Libraries (AUL) as the head of the Library of Architecture, Design, and Construction branch. She will also be serving as AUL’s art and architecture reference librarian.

Sarah Schmidt is now the reference/government information librarian at Angelo State University.

Retirements

Carole Hinshaw has retired from the University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries. Her first library jobs were at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, and Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. In 1988, she began as an adjunct, half-time librarian and then became a visiting librarian. The following year she became a fulltime member of the library faculty. Hinshaw served in several positions: reference librarian, library instruction coordinator, and head of the reference department beginning in 1999. Since 2009, Hinshaw has been the library’s marketing and program officer. Hinshaw has been an active member of the American Library Association, Florida Library Association, and Southeastern Library Association. She served as chair of a Library Instruction Round Table committee and was active in the Distance Learning Section.

Linda Watson has retired from the University of Minnesota (UM) after a 36-year career as health sciences librarian. She was director of the Minnesota’s Health Sciences Libraries since 2005, with an adjunct faculty appointment in the UM Institute for Health Informatics, which she helped create. Watson is also adjunct faculty at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, where she served on the Advisory Council and taught Health Sciences Librarianship in the graduate program for library and information sciences. Before joining UM, Watson directed the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library at the University of Virginia, served at the Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library, and the National Library of Medicine. Watson has also served in various leadership roles at the Medical Library Association and the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries.
