SLAVIC AND EAST EUROPEAN SECTION
Representatives of the Slavic and East European Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries and the Subject Cataloging Division of the Library of Congress are discussing possible improvements in the LC Classification System as it relates to the handling of materials on Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. In order to provide specific recommendations, an ad hoc committee has been established in the Slavic and East European Section. The committee will draft recommendations on the classification presented to the Library of Congress after the ALA Conference in Las Vegas. The chairman of the ad hoc committee is Ivan L. Kaldor, dean, State University College, School of Library Science, Geneseo, New York.
