As the year-end approaches, you are probably buying your 2001 calendars and noting important upcoming events.

Be sure to mark “ACRL Early Bird registration deadline” on January 8. Making sure you don’t miss this deadline will save you 30% on your conference registration fee.

The National Conference Committees have developed a rich and varied program, including diverse speakers, in-depth workshops, networking opportunities, and exhibits representing a variety of products and services geared to academic libraries. They have even built in some time for skiing and a party at a Denver cultural treasure.

Peruse the full preliminary program that begins on page C-l in this issue. Visit our Web site at http://www.ala.org/acrl/denver.html and you can register, reserve your hotel room, and develop an itinerary based on your interests.

Marzena Pasek and Gordon Anderson provide a report on ACRL’s exhibit at the Frankfurt Book Fair (page 1007).

This issue also contains the newly revised “Guidelines for distance learning library services” (page 1023). These guidelines update the 1998 guidelines by including more outcomes-based statements.
