Internet resources for diversity studies

There have been many re- quests for discussion of In- ternet resources for ethnic and diversity studies. There are hundreds of listservs, newsgroups, databases, elec- tronic journals, and docu- ments on various topics in- volving ethnic and diversity issues. This very broad topic is really too large to cover in just one month, so it will be tackled in small doses over the course of the next two to three months. New resources are being created daily and no attempt will be made to list every one; rather, we will try a selective approach. Please feel free to send the editor informa- tion on other electronic sources as they be- come available.

There are many lists and discussion groups devoted to librarianship. Some of those lists are devoted to issues of race and ethnicity as well. They include, but are not limited to:

• AFAS-L@kentvm.kent.edu—ACRL’s Afro- American Studies Section. Access: listserv@ kentvm.kent.edu.

• EQUILIBRN@listserv.fullerton.edu— ACRL’s Racial and Ethnic Diversity Committee.

• REFORMANET@lmrinet.gse.ucsb.edu— REFORMA. Access: listserv@lmrinet.gse.ucsb.edu.

• BLACKLIB@guvm—Conference of Black Librarians. Access: listserv@guvm.

• EJBLACK@kentvm.kent.edu—Electronic Journal for Black Librarianship. Access: listserv@kentvm.kent.edu.

• FORO-L@listserv.arizona.eduforo-l— Transborder Libraries Forum Discussion.

• WIML-L@iubvm—women’s issues in music librarianship. Access: listserv@iubvm.

• Chinese American Li- brarians Association (CALA) Midwest Chapter Electronic Journal. For information contact Bor-sheng Tsai at btsai@cms.cc.wayne.edu.

Next time we will con- centrate on lists, discussion groups, and other sources concerned with racial and ethnic studies.

Cant on “Concerns of the U.S. Department of Education Regarding Access and Equity in Higher Education,” and Ephraim Isaac on “Racism, Anti-Semitism, and Academic Responsibility: Toward a Vision of a New Curriculum.” More than 40 major workshops and 20 critical dialogue sessions are included in the conference.
