• Blueprint for Success: A Manual for Conventions, Conferences, Seminars and Workshops (70 pages, 1981) has been compiled and edited by John J. Jax for the Wisconsin Library Association. This manual gives in a convenient outline form much of the information an association or library needs to organize a successful conference. Copies are available for $16.45 to WLA members or $21.45 to non-members (pre-payment required) from the Wisconsin Library Association, 1922 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53705.
• A Catalogue of the Cary Collection of Playing Cards in the Yale University Library, by William B. Keller (4 volumes, 1616 pages, 1981), has been published by Yale University. The playing cards, card sheets, wooden blocks, metal plates, ephemera, and prints acquired by Melbert B. Cary, Jr. (1892-1941) form one of the world’s most distinguished collections. 7,500 illustrations, 8 in color. The set may be purchased for $300, plus $10 for handling, from the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library, P.O. Box 1603A Yale Station, Yale University, New Haven, CT 06520. Orders from individuals must be prepaid.
• The Directory of Online Information Resources, 8th edition (107 pages, September 1981), has been issued by CSG Press. It focuses on over 300 of the most popular and useful databases that are commercially available online in the United States. An expanded subject and source index, pricing information, and a complete list of names, addresses, and phone numbers of all database vendors and producers are included. The directory is available at $18.50 per copy from CSG Press, 11301 Rockville Pike, Kensington, MD 20895. Single orders must be accompanied by payment.
• Institutionally Funded Student Financial Aid, by Nathan Dickmeyer, John Wessels, and Sharon L. Coldren (112 pages, 1981), published by the American Council on Education, is a thoughtful overview of the economic issues that determine the distribution of funds for financial aid programs. The monograph may be ordered by writing to the American Council on Education, Publication Sales, Section PR9, One Dupont Circle, Washington, DC 20036, and enclosing a payment of $15 per book (plus $2 handling for the first book, $1 for each additional book). Payment must accompany orders from individuals and all orders under $20.
• The Library Education Statistical Report, second edition (1981), has been published by the Association of American Library Schools. Statistical information is presented for 81 graduate programs in librarianship at institutions affiliated with AALS. The time period covered for most categories of information is the 1980-81 academic year. The report is available for $15 per copy from the Executive Headquarters of the Association of American Library Schools, 471 Park Lane, State College, PA 16801.
• A Portrait of Librarianship in Developing Societies,by Antonio A. Briquet de Lemos (46 pages, 1981), has been published as Occasional Paper no. 28 by the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Lemos critically reviews and analyzes studies on libraries and information services in Third World countries. •A Professional Planning Calendar for 1982 has been produced by the Wisconsin Library Association’s Education Section. This poster-sized calendar lists the dates, location, and contact person for 35 national, regional, and state meetings of interest to the library/media profession. Copies may be ordered for $3 (plus $2 postage and handling) from the Wisconsin Library Association Office, 1922 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53705.
•A Selective Bibliography on the Conservation of Research Library Materials, by Paul N. Banks (1981), is now available from the Newberry Library. The bibliography contains some 1,200 entries that provide access to publications in English that are most useful to librarians and archivists concerned with conservation. It has a subject and author index, and can be purchased for $10 from the Newberry Library Bookshop, 60 West Walton Street, Chicago, IL 60610.
•The University of Pittsburgh Periodicals and Serials, 6th edition (2 volumes, 1981) contains 35,382 titles held in 31 libraries and collections on the university’s main campus. Paperbound copies are available at $125; clothbound copies (a limited supply) are $135. • Vocational-Technical Audiovisual Materials for Learning Resources Centers(28 pages, 1981) has been published as number 6 in the Choice Bibliographical Essay Series. The listing was prepared by the ACRL Community and Junior College Libraries Section’s Bibliography Committee, and is the result of a survey of schools affiliated with the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges and their preferences in audiovisual materials. Copies may be ordered for $5.95 from Choice, 100 Riverview Center, Middletown, CT 06475.

•The Harvard Distributable Union Catalog on microfiche is now available. This new catalog includes author, title, and subject entries for computerized cataloging produced by various Harvard libraries since July 1, 1977. It also includes author and title entries for works on order but not yet received, and for works received but not yet cataloged in the Harvard libraries. The first issue of the DUC consists of 360 microfiche. The reduction ratio is 48:1. • Target Group Index: How It Worksintroduces a marketing tool that cross-tabùlates demographic and psychographic characteristics of over 30,000 people with patterns of product consumption and exposure to magazines, radio, and television. A detailed explanation of how to read and interpret data on TGI Tables is followed by discussion of how analysis of TGI data affects marketing decisions.
