Effective in September of 1972, Richard A. Farley became director of libraries at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. His position is a newly created one established on the recommendation of the McGill University Li- braries Commission. His primary task as director of libraries will be to implement the recommendations of the commission. The specific recom- mendation that will be of immediate con- cern will be to estab- lish five “area” li- braries within the McGill system to answer the library problem encountered by a large urban university.

Richard A. Farley

The growth environment at McGill will not be an unfamiliar one to Mr. Farley. During his tenure at Kansas State University from 1966- 1972 he was responsible for the construction of a two and one half million dollar building addition and saw the total library budget in- crease by 300 percent.

He has served the profession in many capaci- ties. He has been a member of ALA Council, president of the Kansas Library Association and has served on the Ad Hoc Committee for the National Agricultural Library to study an Agricultural Sciences Information Network.

Donald E. Oehlerts became director of libraries of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio on August 1, 1972. He succeeds Dr. Charles D. Churchwell, who is now associate provost of Miami.

Mr. Oehlerts came to Miami from the University of Houston where he served as assistant director from August of 1970 through July of 1972.

He has published on a variety of topics ranging from guides to newspapers for Colorado and for Wisconsin, to “Xerox Circulation Systems: An Alternative to Automation,” published in the Texas Library Journal, November 1972.

APPOINTMENTS

Karen Anderson is the new assistant cataloging librarian, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

Mrs. Louise Anderson is the new acting assistant reference librarian, Princeton University library, New Jersey.

Geoffrey Armour has been appointed a reference librarian in the Sinclair Undergraduate Collection, University of Hawaii library, Honolulu.

Joanne Mary Bessler has assumed the position of assistant reference librarian and instructor in library science, Purdue University library, Lafayette, Indiana.

E. Diana Blake is the new head of the division of information services and collections, Queen’s University library, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Mrs. Edith Blendon is the newly appointed acting university archivist, Princeton University library, New Jersey.

Malcolm E. Blowers has received appointment as assistant law librarian, University of Tennessee Law Library, Knoxville.

Mrs. Monique Bogojevic has assumed the position of assistant librarian in the acquisitions department, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.

Steven Brogden was appointed director and librarian of the Harwood Foundation, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

Mrs. Sarah-Alicia Burkman has assumed the position, population research librarian, Princeton University library, New Jersey.

Curtis Campagna is now assistant to the curator of the poetry collection at the library of the State University of New York, Buffalo.

Jerry V. Caswell has been named librarian for media and circulation at the Steenbock Memorial Library, University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Lorene Craner has been named librarian at the Gallup Branch, University of New Mexico.

Mrs. Mary Dalzell is the new reference- bibliographer, science and engineering librarian at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio.

Jean Decker has been appointed serials librarian of the cataloging department of the library of the State University of New York, Buffalo.

Sandra DeMinco is the new audiovisual librarian at Rockland Community College, Suffern, New York.

Ivan M. Edward has been appointed assistant acquisitions librarian, Memphis State University library, Tennessee.

Bahaa El-Hadidy is periodical resources librarian, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Virginia Elwood is now public relations writer and reference librarian, State University of California, Northridge.

Mary Finley is the reference librarian of the federal documents, State University of California, Northridge.

Lin Good is now head of the bibliographic operations division, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Mrs. Mary Gross is head of the catalog department, Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Susan Hanley has been named order librarian at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Patricia Harness is the new assistant librarian for public services, Beloit College, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Carol Hazen has been named assistant reference librarian, Princeton University library, New Jersey.

James Henson is a new addition to the acquisitions department, State University of California, Northridge.

Susana A. Hinojosa has joined the Moffitt Undergraduate library as assistant librarian, University of California, Berkeley.

David Howard has been appointed periodicals librarian, David Lipscomb College, Nashville, Tennessee.

Celia Hukins has accepted the position of assistant serials librarian and instructor in library sciences, Purdue University, New Jersey.

Don S. Hurst is the new acting assistant librarian at the University of Oklahoma, Norman.

David L. Ince has accepted the position of chief of administrative services at the University of New Mexico library, Albuquerque.

Julie C. Jackson is a Slavic cataloger, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Pamela Nan Jackson has assumed the position of assistant acquisitions librarian, University of Oklahoma, Norman.

Dr. Christopher Kendris is the new assistant professor of foreign language and culture and bibliographer for humanities, St. Mary’s College, Maryland.

Mrs. Claren Kidd is now interlibrary loan librarian, University of Oklahoma, Norman.

Peggy A. Kusnerz is now an assistant librarian in the University of Michigan Museums Library and Library Extension Library, Ann Arbor.

Patricia Kwinn has been named assistant humanities librarian, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

Ben La Bue has joined the staff of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, as circulation- reference librarian.

Tomislav Landikusic has been appointed assistant director, acquisitions librarian, University of Oklahoma, Norman.

Susan MacDonald has assumed the duties of assistant documents librarian, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
