23-26—Catholic Libraries: The 63d Annual Catholic Library Association Convention, Boston Park Plaza Hotel. Theme: “Freedom Our Heritage: Peace Our Challenge.” Specific emphases will include computer technology; the academic librarian’s role in promoting peace and justice; and the organization and maintenance of special collections. 30-May 1—Non-print Materials: Joint workshop, Music OCLC Users Group and the Online Audiovisual Catalogers, to be held at OCLC, 6565 Frantz Road, Dublin, Ohio. A* tour of OCLC and demonstrations of the Minnesota online catalog and the OCLC LS2000 integrated library system are planned. Fee: $35 for MOUG or OLAC members, $45 for non-members. 3-4—Online Catalogs: “Management of the Online Catalog,” an institute sponsored by LAMA/ ALA, the University of Wisconsin School of Library and Information Science, and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The program will be held at the Wisconsin SLIS, Curtin Hall, Room 175, 3243 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee. The institute is directed toward trustees and library administrators who are considering use of the online catalog. 10-12—Reference: “Improving Reference Management,” a workshop sponsored by RASD/ALA and the Reference and Adult Services Section of the Southeastern Library Association, will be held at the Radisson Inn and Convention Center, Atlanta. 12-17—Book Trade: The Sixth Annual Out-of-Print and Antiquarian Book Market Seminar/Workshop, co-sponsored by the University of Denver Graduate School of Librarianship and Information Management and AB Bookman’s Weekly, will be held at the University of Denver. This is an introductory course for librarians and bookdealers. Topics include pricing and appraisals, bibliographic description, the auction market, and book dealer/librarian relationships.
