HOW TO GET THERE
The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is a short ride into the downtown area where the ACRL National Conference will be held. Minneapolis is served by eight airlines offering either non-stop or direct service from any part of the continental United States in less than four hours (Allegheny, Braniff International, Eastern, North Central, Northwest Orient, Ozark, United, and Western). Limousine service for the 9 miles from the airport to the Hyatt Regency Hotel is $3.50 at this writing, and cab fare will run over $10.
Minneapolis is served by a major east-west line of Amtrak, running from Chicago (and points east) to Seattle and Portland. The major terminal for the Twin Cities area is approximately 6 miles away from the conference hotels; limousine service is about $2.50 and cab fare less than $10.
The more economy-minded will find Greyhound’s Union Bus Depot a short five blocks away from the hotels, while the affluent may fly their private planes to Crystal Airport (9 miles away) or sail their yachts up the Mississippi River to the yacht club of their choice.
In these economy conscious days of budget cuts and energy conservation, car pooling may be your most cost-effective option. Hitchhiking, however, is illegal in most states. So don’t get caught standing by the side of the road—be prepared!
