College Libraries Committee Commission on Preservation and Access
• Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.Proposals for contributions to volume II of Advances in Preservation and Access, a new annual published by the Meckler Corporation, are invited by co-editors Mary E. Jackson (University of Pennsylvania) and Barbara Buckner Higginbotham (Brooklyn College). Individuals are asked to submit one-page abstracts for papers on current topics on library preservation, conservation, and related access issues, including education, cooperation, standards, management, and technique. The abstract should contain the name, address, and telephone number of the potential contributor; brief biographical data; and a 250-word abstract. Mail proposals to: Mary E. • Evanston, Illinois.The first meeting of the NOTIS-Preservation Interest Group (NOTIS- PIG) was held during the ALA Midwinter meeting in Chicago. This special interest group, chaired by Barbara Sagraves (Northwestern University) and eo-chaired by Patricia Palmer (Virginia Commonwealth University) was formed to discuss the preservation applications of NOTIS. • Washington, D.C.The Commission on Preservation and Access’s supply of its fundraising support package, “Ideas for Preservation Fundrais- ing” has been replenished. The package includes an overview from the national perspective, articles judged helpful for making the case for local preservation support, and examples of institutional fundraising initiatives. The flexible format enables a library or archive to add its own information for fundraising presentations. The package may be purchased for $10.00. Orders must be prepaid, with checks (no cash) made payable to “The Commission on Preservation and Access,” in U.S. funds.
