OMS reprints collection conservation manual

The Office of Management Studies (OMS) of the Asso- ciation of Research Libraries (ARL) has issued a second printing of its 1993 publica- tion, Collection Conservation Treatment: A Resource Man- ual for Program Develop- ment and Conservation Technician Training. The 452-page manual contains in- structions for more than 100 conservation treatments, floorplans, and furnishing/equipment lists for conservation laboratories; flow charts and de- cision trees for conservation decision-making; plus a bibliography. It was developed by the 42 collections conservators and preservation ad- ministrators who attended the 1992 “Training the Trainers: A Conference on Training in Col- lection Conservation,” and compiled by Maralyn Jones, assistant head of the Conservation De- partment at the University of California, Berke- ley. The manual also includes a final report on the conference which was intended to facili- tate regional planning for collection conserva- tion training. Copies are available for $40.00, plus $5.00 shipping and handling (prepaid only) from ARL Publications, Department #0692, Washington, DC 20073-0692. For more infor- mation contact: Annette C.
