30-May 2—Automation: National Online Meeting, Sheraton Centre Hotel, New York City, sponsored by Online Review. The conference will feature over 80 papers and talks, 90 product reviews, sessions on end user online searching, over 120 exhibits, and 11 special “satellite events” before or after the meeting (extra fee applies). 2-3—Photographic Collections: Workshop on the Conservation and Management of Photographic Collections, Connecticut Historical Society, Hartford. Sponsored by the Northeast Document Conservation Center. Topics include: identification of historic processes, causes of deterioration, storage, surveying collection needs, exhibition policies, use and handling by researchers, organizing and indexing, computerized cataloging, and copy methods. 28—Library Instruction: “Computer-Assisted Instruction for Academic Libraries,” a preconference workshop presented by the Library Orientation and Bibliographic Instruction Caucus of the Florida Library Association, will be held at the Hyatt Orlando.
