•Document Delivery in the United States, a report on the methods that libraries use to obtain materials undertaken by Information Systems Consultants, Inc., has been issued by the Council on Library Resources. The report includes data on document suppliers, the interlibrary loan system, use of delivery options, and electronic document delivery. The study was commissioned under CLR’s Information Delivery Services Program, in part as a response to the Library of Congress Network Advisory Committee’s 1982 recommendation for a nationwide study of document delivery activities. Information came from an extensive literature review, over 100 questionnaire responses from libraries and document services, and telephone interviews with major library and commercial suppliers. The report identifies four likely trends for document delivery services over the next five years if libraries and consortia do not engage in coordinated planning for improvements.
