•Bibliographic Instruction in Illinois Academic Libraries: A Survey Report (86 pages, 1983) has been published as Illinois Library Statistical Report number 11. It summarizes the 1982 survey of the BI activities of Illinois college and university libraries. •Bibliographic Instruction in the USA, 1883-1982 contains annotated listings of citations taken from the Library Instruction Materials Bank database. Articles, monographs, proceedings, dissertations, and research reports are included. The format is computer-output microfiche. Cost: £5. •Buy Books Where—Sell Books Where, by Ruth E. Robinson (250 pages, 4th ed., 1983), contains over 7,000 entries representing the collecting specialties of more than 1,700 booksellers in the United States. The new edition identifies specialists as strictly buyers or strictly sellers of particular subject categories. Copies may be obtained for $21.50 from Ruth E. •Collection Security in ARL Libraries, SPEC Kit #100 (94 pages, January 1984), examines the policies, procedures, and security systems used by ARL libraries to prevent theft. Included are 10 policy and procedures documents, two task force reports, and a selective bibliography. •The 1984 Directory of Resources for Technology in Education has been published by the Technology Learning Center at the Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development. It provides information about national and state associations, resource organizations, state departments of education, computer camps, periodicals, databases, electronic bulletin boards, hardware companies, summer institutes, conferences, degree programs, and funding sources. •Document Delivery in the United States, a report on the methods that libraries use to obtain materials undertaken by Information Systems Consultants, Inc., has been issued by the Council on Library Resources. The report includes data on document suppliers, the interlibrary loan system, use of delivery options, and electronic document delivery. The study was commissioned under CLR’s Information Delivery Services Program, in part as a response to the Library of Congress Network Advisory Committee’s 1982 recommendation for a nationwide study of document delivery activities. Information came from an extensive literature review, over 100 questionnaire responses from libraries and document services, and telephone interviews with major library and commercial suppliers. The report identifies four likely trends for document delivery services over the next five years if libraries and consortia do not engage in coordinated planning for improvements. •The Guide to Swedish-American Archival and Manuscript Sources in the United States, edited by Wesley M. Westerberg (600 pages, 1983), lists personal papers, organizational records, diaries, histories and other material going back to the 1600s when the first Swedes arrived. It is the result of a two-year inventory project for which the National Endowment for the Humanities provided major funding. There are 3,090 sources from 129 depositories in 30 states and the District of Columbia. Copies of the guide are available for $20 plus postage from the Swedish-American Historical Society, 5125 N. •Library Department Criteria for Promotion, a document of the City College Library Faculty, City University of New York, may be of use to administrators developing or revising their own policies. Libraries with written promotional criteria are encouraged to send a copy in exchange. Otherwise, single copies will be sent upon request (when accompanied by an SASE) from Ann K. •Mysterious America, by Loren Coleman (301 pages, January 1984), is a compilation of folklore and anomalous happenings in the United States and Canada. An excellent regional bibliography supplements the text, which covers monsters, phantoms, haunts, and out-of-place animals. Five appendices list reoccurring “spook lights,” erratic crocodilians, phantom ships, devil’s place names, and American lake and river monsters. •A Preservation Poster that informs sipping and snacking library users about the dangers of food and drink to library collections is available for $5 from the University of Texas Libraries. •Public/Private Sector Interactions: The Implications for Networking (48 pages, 1983) has been issued as Network Planning Paper number 8 by the Library ofCongress Network Advisory Commit­ tee. The report attempts to identify the problems and gaps in a similar report issued by NCLIS in 1982.
