Stepping into the position of Director of Libraries at the University of Louisville on July 1, 1971, will be John Demos, former Assistant Director for Technical Services at Ohio State University. The former Director at the University of Louisville, Wayne Yenawine, will be Dean of the Library School at the University of South Carolina.

Mr. Demos held a number of positions at Ohio State. He was Head of Physics and Math Libraries 1965- 66, Head of Department Libraries from 1966 until his assumption of the position of Assistant Director for Technical Services in 1968, the position he now holds.

He is a life memer of ALA, and has been involved extensively in committee work and publishing in the area of technical services. The experience he has gained in public and technical services in the Ohio State system should prove an asset in the growing University of Louisville setting.

APPOINTMENTS

Dr. Lester E. Asheim has accepted appointment to the position of professor in the Graduate Library School of the University of Chicago.

David Bishop has been appointed medical librarian for the McGill University libraries, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Dr. Fred Blum has been appointed head of the technical services department in the library of the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

Barbara M. Bullock has joined the staff of the Kent State University library, Kent, Ohio, as reference librarian for history and political science.

Jose D. Coutin has been appointed law librarian and professor of law at the Catholic University of the Puerto Rico School of Law in Ponce.

E. Bruce Dack has assumed the position of head of the circulation division, Catholic University of America libraries, Washington, D.C.

John Haak has accepted the position of assistant university librarian in the library of the University of California, San Diego.

David Horn has joined the staff of the Montana State University library, Bozeman, as archivist.

Daniel D. Kereth has been named head catalog librarian for the Concord College library, Athens, West Virginia.

Dr. Kate Kolish will join the staff of the Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, starting in June as assistant professor.

Dr. Richard A. Krzys will become professor of library science at the Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, effective in April.

James W. Liesener has accepted the position of acting dean of the School of Library and Information Services at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Paula Mark has reported to the staff of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, library as a reference librarian.

Greg M. Masterson is librarian of public relations in the library of Rockland Community CoUege, Suffern, New York.

Mrs. Jean E. Miller is a cataloger in the Kent State University library, Kent, Ohio.

Mrs. Jean L. Miller has been appointed acquisitions librarian on the Kent State University library staff, Kent, Ohio.

Mrs. Marjorie E. Murein has been promoted to the position of reference librarian, Kent State University library, Kent, Ohio.

Mrs. Sara G. Osgood is now a reference librarian at the Kent State University library, Kent, Ohio.

Leila Payne has assumed the duties of head cataloger in the library of Texas A & M University, College Station.

Michael F. Plunkett is the new senior assistant in the manuscripts department of the University of Virginia library, Charlottesville.

Linda K. Rambler has been named assistant to the chief acquisitions librarian of the Pennsylvania State University libraries, University Park.

Charlotte Roberts is a new acquisitions librarian in the library of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Peter Staats has taken up duties of cataloger of audiovisual material in the Rockland Community College library, Suffern, New York.

Alva W. Stewart will become associate librarian of the Earl Gregg Swem Library, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia, on June 16.

Marylee C. Sturgis has assumed the position of assistant director of cataloging services at the University of Virginia library, Charlottesville.

Peggy Sullivan will join the staff of the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences in September as professor of library science.

Alfred SveNSON has been named chairman of the sciences libraries at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

John T. Thomas has taken up duties as acting head, reference department, F. D. Bluford library, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro.

Everett M. Wallace is now systems librarian at the University of California, Riverside, library.

Peter Waters has accepted appointment to the position of restoration officer in the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.

Dr. Joseph N. Whitten has joined the faculty of the Graduate Library School, C. W. Post Center, Long Island University, Brookville, New York, as a professor of library science.

Mrs. Joy J. Woodson is in charge of the chemistry-physics library in the Kent State University libraries system, Kent, Ohio. ■ ■
