This month’s cover features an image of a thin section of lunar sample 15384 collected during the Apollo 15 Moon mission in the summer of 1971. Thin sections are slices of Moon rock that allow microscopic examination and enable detailed scientific study. Thin section images of Apollo lunar samples can be found online in the Apollo Thin Sections catalog (https://www.lpi.usra.edu/lunar/samples/atlas/thin_sections/), a subset of the Lunar and Planetary Institute’s (LPI’s) Lunar Sample Atlas.
