Cover Page
This month’s cover features a photograph of Harry Edward winning the 220 yard final at an Amateur Athletics Association meet at Stamford Bridge in London, circa 1920-1922. Edward was born to German-Guyanan parents in Berlin and was a track and field athlete for Great Britain during the 1920 Olympic Games. He later immigrated to the United States, where he became involved in humanitarian and civil rights causes and served as a relief worker for the United Nations.

The Harry Edward papers, including this month’s cover image, are housed at the Amistad Research Center in New Orleans, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016. Visit www.amistadresearchcenter.org for more information.
